By now, you should have received an email at your Mavs email address inviting you to be an author on this blog. If you haven't seen it yet, go check your Mavs email. If it's still not there, talk to Cindy now!

I hope that this blog will serve several purposes in this class. (1) It provides you a place to complete assignments and easily share them with your classmates. Not only does this make sharing within this class easier, but it also will hopefully (2) make you more comfortable with sharing materials you've created with other teachers in the future. In addition, this blog (3) provides a forum for you and your fellow service learners to discuss issues, problems, successes, and challenges that you may be having in your service learning project. Finally, it (4) allows all of a spot to communicate with each other about anything we want to communicate about in relation to TESOL.

So, let's get started! Your first assignment is to get familiar with the blog set-up and how to post things. For some of you, this may be old and familiar and you may want to pepper your posts with html code, while others of you may feel like you are, well, learning a new language. But you don't have to get fancy. Just click "new post" and start typing!

Here's your first assignment: Create a new post and title it with your name (just first or a nickname is okay - this is a public blog, after all. In the post, tell us a little about yourself as a language learner and a language teacher. What languages do you speak, and what languages have you learned (or attempted to learn) as an adult (or at least post-adolescent)? When and where have you taught English? Have you taught other languages? If so, which ones and where did you teach them?

I'll start us off with an intro to myself (see the next post).

An important instruction: To make it easier for me to find your posts, please ALWAYS put your name or nickname (whatever you titled your intro post with) as a label (you'll find the label box at the lower lefthand corner of this text box). If you neglect to label your post as yours, I may miss it when I'm grading, and neither of us wants that!
