Katie

Hi, my name is Katie. I am a student at UTA and I am studying french. My dad has always loved french so when my brothers and I were younger we would always study french. He put us through lots of software and we even had a lesson from a real french lady. Throughout the years I have fallen in love with the language. I am an English speaker but I hope to learn many more languages. I want to be an interpreter so lots of languages will be very beneficial to my career. I have never taught a language to anyone before so this class will be a new experience for me.

  1. I'm jealous of your French! I took one semester of French my second year of Undergrad, and I found myself in agreement with one of my favorite English professors, who always joked that "Texans should never speak French." Like you, I would love to learn more languages. I'd also really love to feel confident with my Spanish.

Did you find any of the software you used to be particularly helpful?

  2. Allison, truly the best way to really be fluent (or at least conversational) in any language is to speak it with native speakers, a lot.

Katie, the only teaching I have had is tutoring for SOAR. I'm looking forward to learning how to teach a whole classroom.

  3. Allison, Pimsleur has been a tremendous help to me and my family. Also, Learn to speak French is what we did as kids. I enjoyed both of them.

    Erica, I am too!
