Based
on your paired discussion in class, state the topic/theme of your
lesson, then list the 4 skills with at least a brief description of how
you would integrate each of them into that lesson. Try not to just
repeat what your partner said if they’ve already answered – instead try
to expound on what they’ve already said or offer another way to
integrate each skill into the lesson you discussed.

If I understand the statement above, it would be regarding the next lesson plan. Since my partner was unavailable in class for a face to face discussion we spent time texting each other during the discussion section of class. We actually had very similar ideas. Our theme is business. And we are planning to integrate the 4 skills in our lesson. The lesson/activity actually requires all 4 skills in order to get the proper outcome.
ReplyDeleteReading: Students will have to read the instructions to themselves.
Writing: Students will have to fill out a form.
Listening: Students will have to listen to questions asked to them by their team member/ partner.
Speaking: Students will have to ask and answer questions during the activity.
The idea is that students have to communicate with each other. As the teachers we will model the instructions but the outcome will depend on how much the students understood and how well they communicate with each other!

The topic of our lesson will be shopping on the internet. This is a lesson that is quite relevant that will help students accomplish a meaningful task efficiently in today’s technological and globalized world. However, it takes some thought to think of how to integrate all four skills, particularly speaking, listening and writing, since internet shopping is mostly about reading and clicking.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking: students will simulate a phone conversation with a parent who wants them to buy an item over the internet. This is a situation I have had to do before. Students will take turns being the student and the parent, practicing having to describe items they want and ask questions to clarify what item their parent wants.
Listening: Students will need to practice listening through their phone conversation, comprehending what the other person is saying and working toward a shared understanding what type of item with what characteristics their parent wants.
Writing: Students will practice writing by having to return an item and having to write an email about why they are returning the item and what they would like as compensation.
Reading: students will practice reading by going on a website and having to read and navigate the website to simulate ordering an item.
Our topic is the use of future tense. It will be difficult to integrate reading into our lesson in the time allotted, although reading is going to be a part of the lesson plan. Here is our tentative schedule of events:
ReplyDeleteReading: Students will be reading a brief paragraph using the future tense about "what XYZ is going to do over the weekend" as well as the instructions on the activity.
Speaking: Students will have to interview each other about their respective future weekend plans and then report on their partners' plans to the rest of the class.
Listening: Aside from listening to the grammar lesson and instructions, they will have to practice the skill of listening to the responses that their partners' give about their weekend plans so that they can report on them accurately.
Writing: Students will have to write down each others' responses on the activity sheet.
Students will have to communicate by talking and listening to each other on an individual basis as well as talking and listening to the entire class, and their written performance will be easily assessable from the worksheets. Students will have the opportunity to listen to us model the exercise as well as read an example of how to do the exercise.
